Each month, IEEE Communications provides a selection of FREE tutorials, thanks to our corporate sponsors. Their support enables us to provide these tutorials to you at no charge. A valuable opportunity for you to benefit from the expertise of presenters at IEEE Communications events.

IEEE Communications Society’s Enhanced Conference Tutorial Program presents a collection of recent tutorials given at Communications Society sponsored conferences and from additional presenters. Each tutorial reviews currents communications topics in network management and computer and wireless communications. Available tutorials, which are 2.5 to 5 hours in length contains the original visuals and voice-over by the presenter.

UPH Lecture on 4G Technologies

Bulan Februari ini, serial seminar “Opening The Gates to 4G Mobile Technology” tiba di kota Surabaya. Host atas seminar ini adalah Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH Surabaya), dengan koordinasi langsung dari Vice Rector Prof. Dr. John Batubara. Seminar bertempat di Hotel Mercure Surabaya (20 Februari 2009), seminar ini menyampaikan materi yang telah diperkaya dari hasil diskusi pada seminar-seminar sebelumnya, baik di Bandung, Yogyakarta, maupun Jakarta.

Berbeda dengan seminar sebelumnya pada serial ini, seminar di UPH ini dihadiri juga oleh IEEE Indonesia Section Chair, Arnold Ph Djiwatampu. Dari UPH hadir Rektor Jonathan Parapak. Juga diberikan porsi yang lebih besar untuk memperkenalkan program-program IEEE untuk memberikan support dan benefit bagi para mahasiswa dan profesional di bidang engineering. Susunan acara yang diselenggarakan, berturut-turut:

Bandung: Seminar on Digital TV

This year IEEE Indonesia Section and its chapters plan to intensify seminars & lecturing in several cities in Indonesia. As we have known, since last year, the Comsoc Chapter had conducted a seminar series on 4G Mobile Technologies. While still running it, now the Chapter starts another series in parallel. Today the Chapter carried out a seminar in the new series: Digital TV Technologies.

As the previous series, this one also commenced in Bandung, today. This seminar was conducted in the Hotel Nalendra, Cihampelas. The participants who attended the seminar today include Mrs. Koesmarihati of Mastel (previously, she was Telkom’s Director of Development, CEO of Telkomsel, and Chairperson of BRTI), some Heads of Department and officials from Universities (Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Ahmad Yani, Maranatha University, ITENAS, IT Telkom), the representatives of the operators & providers (Telkom, XL Axiata, DAAITV, Nasio), and several other professionals.

Yogya: Opening The Gates to 4G

Setelah Bandung, kali giliran kota Yogyakarta menjadi tuan rumah bagi seminar “Opening The Gates to 4G Mobile Technology” yang diselenggarakan oleh IEEE Communications Society Indonesia Chapter. Bertempat di Hotel Santika (19 Desember 2009), seminar ini masih menyampaikan materi yang sama dengan Bandung, namun telah diperkaya oleh hasil diskusi di Bandung. Speaker dan materinya meliputi:

1. Muhammad Ary Murti: Pengenalan IEEE, societies, Indonesia section, chapters, membership.
2. Kuncoro Wastuwibowo: 4G Mobile Technologies, network, service, cognitive radio, context awareness, candidates
3. Arif Hamdani Gunawan: Candidate I –> LTE, evolution, features, architecture, OFDMA & SCFDMA, implementation plan
4. FX Ari Wibowo: Candidate II –> WiMAX II, comparison of 802.16e vs 802.16m, specifications, features, architecture

Peserta datang dari Bandung, Yogyakarta, dan berbagai kota lainnya. Diskusi cukup tajam, membahas spesifikasi detail, spekulasi mengenai lenyapnya UMB , hingga pengembangan aplikasi di atas teknologi 4G.

Setelah Yogyakarta, Teknologi 4G akan juga dibawakan ke kota-kota lain, sementara di awal 2010 nanti juga IEEE akan mulai meluncurkan tema-tema yang berbeda untuk lecturingnya. Lecturing ini akan disampaikan melalui beberapa metode sesuai tujuan. Bentuknya dapat berupa kuliah umum di kampus, lecturing intensif seperti saat ini, atau conference yang lebih besar. Namun untuk ini tentu akan diperlukan dukungan lebih banyak volunteer .
